Artist Experiences:

In 1992, the famous rock star Kirk Cobain, of Seattle, WA, lead singer and guitarist for the famous rock group “Nirvana”, saw Mark’s pointillism piece, “money” hanging at a popular Sport’s Bar in Yakima, WA.   Kirk was so intrigued with the picture that he asked the bartender about the artist.  When the bartender told him that it took the artist approximately 360 hours of drawing dots to finish the masterpiece, Kirk said he had to meet the artist and asked for Mark’s phone number.   Soon after, Kirk contacted Mark and purchased the piece for $25,000.

In late March 1994, Kirk sent the picture back to Mark to be reframed as the glass had been cracked.  On April 8, 1994, Kirk Cobain committed suicide, leaving Mark with the picture waiting for its frame.

Mark has made numerous attempts to contact the Estate to return the picture, but as of this date, no one has responded.

Today, the pointillism “Money” sits in its original frame as it did when purchased by the famous rock musician, Kirk Cobain in 1992.

The ironic thing about this picture is that one of Mark’s art instructors told him that this picture would someday become famous.
